Mohamed Salah reaches 50 goals for Liverpool with Red Star brace

Mohamed Salah reached 50 goals for Liverpool after scoring a brace against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night.

Salah notched his half-century for the club in just 65 games, making him the quickest Reds player to reach the milestone, as Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a 4-0 victory in Group C of the Champions League.

After scoring just before half-time with his right foot, the Egyptian scored his 50th goal for the Reds from the penalty spot with his favoured left foot in the second half.

The Egyptian enjoyed a stellar first season in his debut campaign for the Reds, scoring 44 goals in 52 appearances, including a record 32 Premier League goals in a 38-match campaign.

His first goal came against Watford during his top-flight debut for the club in August 2017. Two weeks later he ran from the edge of his own 18-yard box to score a brilliant solo goal against Arsenal.

Salah showed his electrifying pace and dispossessed Gunners full back Hector Bellerin following an Arsenal corner. He then ran the rest of the length of the pitch and coolly slotted the ball home.

The 26-year-old, who struggled during his time at Chelsea between 2014 and 2016, came back to haunt his former side to notch his 15th goal for the club in November 2017.

Salah’s 19th goal for the club won the Puskas Award for best goal at FIFA’s The Best Awards in London this year.

The Liverpool attacker claimed the gong for his strike against Everton in December last season, which saw him wriggle past two defenders before curling the ball past Jordan Pickford.

The Egyptian scored three goals against champions Manchester City last campaign. His lob over Ederson from long range in January stood out. It was his 24th goal for Liverpool.

Salah produced a moment of magic against Tottenham at Anfield in February to score his 28th goal.

In stoppage time Salah beat Spurs left back Ben Davies by cutting back on his left foot and then shifted the ball past Jan Vertonghen. He rounded off the sublime move with a delicate finish over Hugo Lloris.

Salah has scored just one hat-trick in his half-century and that was, in fact, four goals against Watford in March.

He scored two in the first half and two in the second as Klopp’s side won 5-0 in the Premier League encounter.

The Egyptian played an instrumental role as Liverpool reached the Champions League final last campaign and scored some sensational goals en route to Kiev.

In the first leg of the semi-final clash against former club Roma, Salah scored two brilliant goals as the Reds won 5-2.

He curled the ball into the top left-hand corner of the goal and chipped the ball over an on-rushing Alisson Becker. They were his 42nd and 43rd goals for Liverpool.

In total Salah has scored 39 out of his 50 with his left foot, nine with his right and scored two headers, while 45 have come from inside the box.

Salah’s favourite opponents are Watford, Southampton and West Ham after scoring more than three goals against them at Liverpool.
