Molly Foote is wearing Halloween costumes all October

There are those who spend months planning their Halloween costume each year — and then there are those who spend a whole month actually in costume.

Molly Foote, a 17-year-old from Olympia, Washington, absolutely loves Halloween. She loves it so much, in fact, that she couldn’t stand the idea of celebrating it for just one day with only a single costume.

So this year, the creative high schooler decided to spend the entire month leading up to the holiday playing dress-up, picking a new costume for every single day of October.

Total dedication: Molly Foote from Olympia, Washington didn’t want to limit herself to one costume this year

‘I started the 31 Days of Halloween costume challenge because I absolutely love Halloween,’ she told Yahoo. ‘I didn’t want to only wear one costume per year and so I decided to do a costume every day. I also wanted a way to be creative in my everyday outfits, and I thought that by dressing in costume, I could show that.’

She got things rolling on October 1, which happened to be a Sunday, with a ballet dancer costume.

On October 2, a Monday, she kept it going for school by dressing as a shark, slipping into a cozy-looking gray onesie.

She continued the week as a cowgirl, and oyster with a pearl, a snail, ’50 Shades of Grey’ (for which she dressed in the color from head-to-toe), and a devil.

The next week, she was a hospital patient (complete with a Band-Aid on her face), G.I. Moe, a flamingo, a puppy from 101 Dalmatians, a Greek, the ocean, and a princess.

She’s also been black mold, a pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, a crazy cat lady, sushi, French toast, and a brown bear.

Most of her costumes have been DIY creations, which she’s strung together with supplies from Target and Joann Fabrics as well as pieces from her own closet. For the ready-made costumes — like the slice of pizza — she’s borrowed from friends.

She has the rest of her month planned, including Halloween itself — when she plans to turn up to school as a fish in a fish tank.

‘It’s going to be a really large bubble thing with rocks and plants, with me as a fish in the middle,’ she said.

Also in the works is a The Devil Wears Prada costume, which will involve a faux fur coat, heels, something with a Prada label, and devil horns.

‘It has been a way for me to have fun and have a few laughs while juggling the typical busy schedule of a high schooler,’ she said of the project.

And her fellow high schoolers love it, too. No one in the administration has given the senior student a hard time about the silly outfits — which mostly seem to adhere to common dress code rules anyway — and everyone seems excited to see what she will be next.

‘The student body and school staff have been extremely supportive and shown great excitement toward my costumes,’ she said. ‘People are eager to help me get the supplies I need, and I get messages daily about how they look forward to my costumes. I notice that the costumes bring a lot of laughs and smiles to people in the school.’

It may also help that Molly appears to have a reputation for dressing up. Earlier this year, when she was running for her class’ vice president, she wore the shark costume she revisited this month.
