The touching moment a son revealed to his mother he was giving her a kidney was captured on camera in Boston.
David Hernandez’ mother, Elva Casiano, is seen opening a letter handed to her by a man, seemingly her husband as her son Hernandez sits beside her.
Once she realizes what’s going on, she breaks down in tears while several other family members are seen hugging and embracing one another.
She puts her head in her hands and she sobs into a tissue, completely overwhelmed by the life-changing offer from her son.
After a while they’re seen hugging as she whispers ‘I love you’ in his ear.
In a Facebook post Hernandez proudly wrote: ‘YES! I am giving my mother a kidney. She is the most loving and caring person I know.’

For the last six years, Hernandez’ mother has suffered from kidney failure, however only started dialysis two months ago.
He told CBS ‘Watching her suffer is like I’m suffering.’
Casiano emotionally said ‘I just thought I was going to be on dialysis for years and years. I didn’t think –not even once– that my son was going to give me a kidney.’
‘She goes 2-3 times a week in the morning for four hours each day. She then comes home drained, tired, and helpless and sleeps until 4-5 in the afternoon,’ Hernandez wrote in a Facebook post.
‘She was full of life. Worked her full-time job to provide for her 5 children and husband. Now she has 3 beautiful grandchildren that she cries for because in her mind she won’t make it to see them grow up,’ he emotionally wrote.
He decided to get himself tested and it turns out he was a perfect match. ‘Seeing this made me realize that this woman gave everything for us, so it’s time to return the favor.’
It is unclear as to when the surgery will be.
