Mo’nique asks fans to boycott Netflix over low-paying deal

Mo’nique is accusing Netflix of being gender and color biased and wants fans to boycott the streaming service after she said she was offered a deal that was significantly less than what other comedians were paid.

The ‘Almost Christmas’ actress, 50, posted a video on her Instagram page slamming the company for offering her $500,000 to do a comedy special when Amy Schumer was paid $13 million.

Mo’nique said Chris Rock and Dave Chapel, who are considered ‘legends’, each received $20 million.

Mo’nique said the streaming company is being gender and color biased

‘I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias,’ she said.

Mo’nique said when she questioned Netflix on why the money was so different, they said: ‘we believe that’s what Mo’nique will bring’.

‘I said: ‘What about my resume? They said: ‘We don’t go off of resumes,’ the actress told fans in her video.

She then asked what made Schumer worth millions and Netflix allegedly cited the star’s two sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden and a hit summer movie.

‘Is that not Amy Schumer’s resume?’ she said.

According to Mo’nique, Netflix told her they believe she’s a ‘legend’ in her field.

‘Then why shouldn’t I get what the legends are getting?’ she wondered. ‘Please stand with me in this boycott of Netflix.’

The streaming service, which is currently airing a Mo’nique special called  ‘I Coulda Been Your Cellmate’, has not addressed the star’s claims.

This isn’t the first time Mo’nique has commented on pay disparity. Last year, she lashed out at Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels for not paying her fairly.

‘I know they like to say: ‘Mo’nique, you talk too motherf***ing much’. It would kill me not to say the real s***. You are not paying me equally. You are not treating me fairly, so you can suck my d*** if I had one,’ she said during a May show at the Apollo Theater.
