Morrisons worker Adam Molloy sheds third of his body weight

A young dad who tipped the scales at 21 stone and feared he would break his bed every time he went to sleep has shed a third of his body weight to play with his little boy.

Adam Molloy, from Congleton, Cheshire, became a father in 2013 but feared that his lack of self-confidence would rub off on his son Holden as he grew up.

Encouraged by his girlfriend Amber Cooper, the 28-year-old joined his local slimming group and lost 7 stone, going down to a much healthier 14 stone.

Speaking about his transformation, Adam said: ‘I was at the point in life where I had always been overweight and was unhappy.

‘I was buying clothes I had to and not what I wanted to. Holden was born and I found myself struggling, just getting to work was difficult.’

Adam says he had tried to lose weight before but always seemed to find himself slipping back into his old routines.

However, signing up to Slimming World in 2017 helped him shed the pounds once and for all, and in July that year he finally hit his target weight.

The Morrisons worker said: ‘It’s not just that I am feeling physically better now, but it has done wonders for my confidence as well.’

Laura Bounford, consultant at the Quinta Slimming World group nominated Adam for the group’s Mr Sleek award.

She said: ‘Adam has had an amazing transformation. You get people who walk in nervous, un-confident, and not sure if they should be here but a year and a half later he is unrecognisable and is so full of confidence.

‘We nominated him for Mr Sleek and when he was talking about it everyone was hanging on his every word. There is still a stigma for men saying they want to care for themselves and Adam has shown we can change our habits.’
