The school was placed in lockdown and dog handlers from the local council were called.

With the assistance of police officers, they managed to secure the dog back into the yard next to the school.

Video shot shortly after the incident shows the woman being treated for her injuries while the dog is seen roaming around the school’s grounds and barking repeatedly.

The dog handlers are seen attempting to figure out how to coax the animal into a cage.

Paramedics were called to the scene after reports of a woman being bitten by the dog shortly before 9.20am, an NSW Ambulance spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.

‘We assessed the patient on scene, a 35-year-old female with a laceration to her upper leg,’ the spokesman said.

‘She was transported to Westmead hospital.’
