Mother of murdered former Comanchero bikie reveals the bizarre ritual she uses to mark his death

The mother of a former Comanchero bikie who was gunned down in her own front yard has revealed the strange ritual she’s performed every weekend since that fateful afternoon six years ago.

Dosta Janceska, mother of Darko Janceski, sets a plate of home-cooked food and a candle out on the front lawn of her Wollongong home at 5pm every Saturday – in remembrance of the moment her son was shot on April 14, 2012.

She carries out the strange tribute in the exact place where Darko lay bleeding in her arms.

To date, she has enacted it 322 times, The Daily Telegraph reports.

Darko Janceski, 32, was working on a car when he was shot three times by a motorcyclist wearing a balaclava in 2012.

His father, Slobodan Janceski, ran outside to help and picked up a metal garden stake while racing after the assailant.

But Slobdan – a former professional boxer – suffered a broken nose, a shattered jaw and a fractured eye socket in an ensuing fight before the assailant fled, leaving his gun behind.

Matthew Paul Wiggins, 29, had pleaded not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to murdering Darko and causing grievous bodily harm to his father.

A jury was discharged in December after failing to reach verdicts but on Wednesday, a second jury found Wiggins guilty of both charges.

Earlier in 2017, a first trial was aborted for legal reasons.

Slobodan had also knocked off the shooter’s helmet and sunglasses during the encounter, and both items were later linked to Wiggins through DNA testing, the jury was told.

Appearing in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, Darko’s father spoke candidly of his wife’s pain and the flashbacks he suffered as a result of the savage incident.

‘Flashbacks appear every day as 5pm appears near,’ he said.

‘Losing my only son, everything seems dark world to me. Like a lake full of water once with a spring, of water flowing in it, then suddenly at once someone cut that spring.’

The prosecution previously contended Wiggins carried out Darko’s execution to avenge the suspected murder of his missing friend, Goran Nikolovski, who disappeared without a trace on October 2011.

Nikolovski and Darko Janceski were allegedly standover men for people involved in the drug trade and ran an extortion racket in the Illawarra region together.

Janceski was rumoured to be involved with Nikolovski’s disappearance, and is suspected of setting his own house on fire to destroy evidence.

Janceski survived a similar shooting less than three months prior to his death.

He stayed at his parent’s house after being released from hospital.

Earlier in the trial, defence barrister David Doltone SC said no one has been able to identify Darko’s murderer.

‘The crown case is flawed,’ he told the trial in April.

Mr Doltone noted other people’s DNA and fingerprints were found on the helmet and added Darko’s extortion business meant plenty of people could dislike him.

‘Yes, Mr Wiggins, who is close friends of Goran Nikolovski, was very upset about (his death),’ he said.

‘That doesn’t provide someone with a motive to kill.’
