A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead in the street with a stab wound in a suspected group altercation.
Emergency services dashed to the scene in Leicester this morning at around 3.45am following a report a man had been found lying in the street with the wound.
The ambulance service and police officers were deployed to the scene but shortly afterwards the injured man died on the way to the hospital.

The scene has been cordoned off and blood stains, scissors, syringes, surgical gloves and an oxygen masks can be seen.
A second scene has also been cordoned off as it’s believed this may be connected to the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector David Swift-Rollinson from East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime team, said: ‘From enquiries we’ve conducted so far it’s believed there may have been an altercation between two groups of young men who were in separate vehicles travelling in the Fosse Road North or New Parks area.
‘The victim’s car came to rest in Dannett Street where he was found injured. We are in the process of carrying out enquiries in the local area but would urge residents, businesses or anyone who may have been on their way home from the city between 3am and 3.42am today to contact us if they saw a silver vehicle and a small dark vehicle driving in the area.
‘If you have a dashcam installed in your vehicle and were in this area during the early hours of this morning can you please check the footage and contact us immediately?

‘Any information you can provide could help us piece together the events leading up to the death.
