An enormous truck has avoided what would have been a catastrophic accident as it zoomed straight towards a broken-down car on a highway.

The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads released the nail-biting footage on their Facebook page captioned: ‘Can you spot the driver of the broken down vehicle?’

The extraordinary footage shows a line of vehicles in one lane passing the broken down vehicle in the other.

Another truck is driving in the same lane as the broken down vehicle and appears to be driving at the same speed of the other cars.

As it approaches, it dangerously swerves into the other lane narrowly dodging the broken down car and the moving vehicles in the other lane.

The cars behind the driver also suddenly stopped.

The truck driver then swerves back into the other lane and drives off.

Social media users outright blamed the truck for not being careful with his driving.

‘The only person at fault was the truck driver. He nearly took out the other cars. He was lucky he didn’t cause a major accident,’ one wrote.

‘I hope the truckie was fined,’ another wrote.

‘Truck driver appears to have been asleep, txting (sic) or not watching what was in front of him at all. Could have killed the people in the vehicle he quickly barged in front of,’ another commented.
