A new app is allowing New Yorkers to book a restaurant toilet when nature calls.

Rockaloo grants access to restrooms in restaurants, cafes, high-end stores and hair salons, which are normally reserved for customers.

Users pay between $0.99 and $8.99 to reserve their chosen toilet for up to one hour.

They then receive an e-ticket which they can show to a member of staff for access to the bathroom.

Rockaloo launched in August and now partners with 130 businesses in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

Profits are split between the app and the partnering business with a small portion going to charity.

The founders say they are trying to improve bathroom access in a city which has only 15 public toilets for 8.5million citizens and 60million annual tourists.

It follows the rise of apps such as Where 2 Wee and Toilet Finder which show users where their nearest public toilet is.
