Australia’s highest paying barista job is up for grabs, and it comes with some frothy perks.

The New South Wales Parliament has listed two full-time coffee-making positions for $67,031 plus superannuation and it comes with six weeks’ holiday plus overtime pay.

Parliament said it was seeking two ‘well-groomed, creative baristas with excellent interpersonal skills’ to take up the positions.

The $67,031 salary, plus superannuation, brings the total paycheck up to a staggering $73,000.

Taxpayers will fork out the massive sum to ensure the state’s politicians are well caffeinated.

The baristas will serve MPs, staff and visitors at the NSW Parliament in Sydney’s centre.

The job requires applicants to have at least four years’ experience as a Barista, in a ‘prestigious café’.

The job listing says the barista must have ‘the ability to prepare beverages with flair and showmanship’ and have ‘extensive knowledge about coffee flavours, styles and trends’.

‘The barista is the operator of an espresso machine and is the specialist of their craft,’ the listing says.

‘The position is physically demanding due to the necessity to stand for extended periods, exposure to heat and hot liquids and carrying or lifting items,’ it said.

Successful applicants will also require outstanding inter-personal skills, ‘to liase with Members, senior officers and external stakeholders’.

‘Communication is essential within the team to ensure all guests are provided with appropriate attention and standard of service,’ it says.
