NSW dad reveals why he hasn’t seen his kids for 6 years

A father who has not seen his children for six years has revealed why he made the heartbreaking choice to stay away.

Using the name Kieran, the father-of-two from New South Wales has opened up about the decision, saying ‘leaving your kids behind is not selfish’.

After dating for years Keiran said he and the woman he loved had their first child – a baby girl – and another daughter came along soon after.

However, their happy family was destroyed when his ex-partner cheated on him not long after reentering the workforce, he told News.com.au.

Devastated by the betrayal, Kieran said he started living on his own and seeing his daughters on weekends.

He said as his relationship with their mother deteriorated further they stopped seeing each other altogether, and that’s when things got even worse.

‘My youngest child struggled. Her development went backwards. After every visit, she was worse. She started stuttering and she lost weight,’ he said.

‘She started walking up to random parents collecting their kids from school asking, “Do you love me?” My heart was torn apart.’

Kieran said when their daughter began wetting herself during the daytime, her desperate parents each sought separate advice from a child psychologist.

Following a suggestion he stay away for a while, Kieran said he kept his distance for a few weeks and his little girl began to get better.

The news caused his world to ‘fall apart’.

That was six years ago and Kieran said he has not seen his children since.

He said he took a job in another state and his calls went unanswered.

His children are his priority, he said, and that means putting aside his own selfishness.

No matter how much he wants to see them, Kieran said he believes he is doing the right thing, and they are happier without him in their lives.

Kieran said he is still single and is putting money aside for his beloved daughters, but he refuses to put himself first and force his way into their lives before the time is right.
