An Ohio man is facing murder charges after he allegedly shot his own grandson to death after an argument inside his home late Sunday.

At least four horrified neighbors of the 61-year-old grandpa, Dan Schaffer, phoned Akron police to report sounds of screaming and gunshots around 10:30pm, according to local WKYC 3.

Schaffer’s 22-year-old grandson, Cody Czerpak, was identified as the victim who died.

Frantic 911 audio obtained by the station hears one female neighbor as she tells the dispatcher what happened.

The woman is heard telling the dispatcher: ‘Somebody just got shot… it’s my next door neighbor. I heard a big old bang first and then I heard the screaming.’

Another neighbor is heard screaming in a emergency call: ‘It’s his grandpa! He shot him!’

Police said Schaffer was in the home when they arrived to the scene. He was taken into custody and booked to the Summit County Jail.

A GoFundMe page, titled ‘Brianna and her babies,’ was set up by a woman named Carla Long.

Long wrote in the page description: ‘Brianna and her two children are two babies are two of many of the victims traumatized by the fatal shooting of the children’s father.

‘I’m attempting to raise funds to assist with this difficult event.’
