A man has been killed and another two rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds after a shooting at a boxing tournament in Melbourne on Friday night.

Police were called to the Melbourne Pavilion on Racecourse Road in Flemington in the city’s north-west following reports a number of shots had been fired at about 10pm.

Officers found the deceased man and the two other injured men on arrival.

 Police said they were called to a venue on Racecourse Road in Flemington in the city's north-west following reports a number of shots had been fired at about 10pm

The venue was hosting a seven-bout line-up including the WBA Oceania cruiser-weight title clash between Kane Watts and Jayden Joseph. 

A witness told The Herald Sun they heard three shots fired in the building’s foyer.

Despite the incident in the entrance to the pavilion, the witness said there was no violence ringside. 

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are yet to be established and no arrests have been made, police said.  

Homicide Squad detectives are attending and at this stage police do not believe that there is any further threat to the community.
