Outrage at tiny Bondi ‘studio apartment’ for rent for $600

A landlord is charging prospective tenants $200 a week to sleep on one of three single mattresses crammed into a tiny studio apartment.

Photos posted on a Bondi Facebook group reveal two small mattresses on a raised storage platform, and a third bed on the floor.

The room is being offered for $600 per week or $200 per bed, and is advertised as large and fully-furnished.

Reactions from outraged group members have been scathing, with one commenter asking if it is even legal.

Two responded with memes and moving gif images, while another posted a photo of a tiny Hong Kong ‘coffin apartment’.

After one person speculated the landlord is running a ‘home based hostel’ the seller responded by playing up the location.

‘The studio is next door to a tattoo shop and is two blocks from centrelink,’ he wrote.

The condemnations continued to flow in, with people unswayed by the location – only one block from Westfield Bondi Junction and two from the train station.

Nor did people seem impressed by the free utility bills or the new flatscreen HD TV.

‘It’s not a large studio apartment….!!! It is a cluttered box with barely functional “furniture” and even if it was for free and right next door to the Queen of England… l could not live like that,’ wrote one disgusted viewer.
