Paul Hogan launches legal action against Grill’d

Paul Hogan has launched legal action against Grill’d after it used one of Crocodile Dundee’s catchphrases on its cutlery sleeves.

The 78-year-old actor has accused the fast food chain of ‘flagrant’ breach of copyright for including his famous line ‘That’s not a knife, that’s a knife’ on their products.

Paul claims the restaurant company ‘refused’ to stop making the cutlery sleeves and has asked for increased damages due to their ‘flagrant disregard’ for his copyright, The Australian reported on Wednesday.

Sharpening up for a knife fight! Paul Hogan launches legal action against Grill’d after the burger chain used his famous line from Crocodile Dundee on their store merchandise

The Crocodile Dundee star alleges Grill’d has made a ‘false’ representation that their use of the quote was sanctioned by him and have breached copyright.

According to News Corp, Paul is seeking increased ‘exemplary damages’ because Grill’d ‘has been engaged in flagrant disregard’ of his copyright and ‘refused to enter an agreement’ to stop making the sleeves.

Paul argues in court documents the ‘knife line’ is valuable to him and his company, Rimfire Films, as Crocodile Dundee is an important part of Australia pop culture and has been seen by many Grill’d customers.
