Peter Fitzsimons reacts to wife earning more than him

Peter Fitzsimons has revealed he is not phased by wife Lisa Wilkinson earning more than him.

The 56-year-old appeared on The Project on Sunday night, where he was asked about ‘pay parity’ in his household by co-host Chris Bath.

‘Is there pay parity in your household?’ Chris asked drawing laughter from the audience.

Not phased:  Peter FitzSimons laughed off claims that he is supposedly ‘humiliated’ that his wife Lisa Wilkinson earns more than him, during an appearance on The Project on Sunday

An amused Peter replied: ‘I will say yes. A few people sneered along the lines of ‘your wife is humiliating you by earning more.’

‘Please, humiliate me. Spank me!’

Lisa left the Today show after ten years last week over a pay dispute, after she reportedly asked to be paid the same as her co-host Karl Stefanovic.

She joins rival network Ten’s The Project as a co-host in January 2018.

Peter then joked about the public hysteria the story has caused, admitting that it has been a shock recently to have photographers and journalists parked outside the couple’s home in Cremorne.

‘It’s been an amazing week, but a weird thing when you’re in your footy shorts and T-shirt and you’re out the back…I am as I am. If the paps take me, they do, so be it,’ he said.

While remaining tight-lipped on his opinion on the matter, the long-running Sydney Morning Herald sports journalist has been overly supportive of his wife’s decision to depart the Today show.

The fall out from the event has been enormous, with information coming to light that Lisa turned down a $1.8 million contract from Channel Nine

The 57-year old quit the network out of protest, after learning co-host Karl Stefanovic was set to pocket $2.3 million.

Before a new deal was tabled for both hosts, it’s believed that Lisa was paid $1.1 million, while Karl was earning $2 million.
