Philipp Plein and Alec Monopoly celebrate capsule

Musicians, actors and fashion icons descended on Miami for a whirlwind week of glamorous parties to celebrate some of the world’s best artists during Art Basel.  

Saturday night was by far the highlight of Art Basel as the parties at the festival came to a close.

Philipp Plein and Los Angeles graffiti artist Alec Monopoly celebrated the drop of their capsule collection and the opening of the PHILIPP PLEIN Miami pop-up store at Fontainebleau Hotel during Art Basel Miami on Friday, December 8th.

In attendance were Frances Bean Cobain, Victoria Silvstedt and smokepurpp who enjoyed cocktails and checked out the collaboration fashion pieces including the art work of Alec Monopoly that was on display at the event.

The AlecXPlein capsule collection was debuted at the PHILIPP PLEIN Resort 2018 fashion show in Cannes in May 2017 and is now available in stores worldwide.

Alec Monopoly also hosted Fontainebleau Hotel’s first-ever artist takeover, featuring a series of original, hand-painted Helmut Newton photographs. A hand-painted “Elsa Peretti Bunny Shot” photograph is installed as the centerpiece of the hotel’s nightclub LIV throughout Art Basel.

After the event the after party kicked off with Cardi B performing to the cheering crowd at a hotel in South Beach.

“Alec Monopoly” is the alias of an unidentified graffiti artist, originally from New York City. The artist primarily works in the urban environments of major cities around the world, using varied materials (including stencils, spray paint, epoxies, varnishes and newspapers) to subversively depict various iconic pop culture characters.
