Photographer puts pennywise in sister’s engagement photos

With the latest version of It hitting screens across the country, there will be more and more people feeling wary about scary clowns popping out in unexpected places.

And, as far as unexpected places go, engagement photos would likely be high on the list. That is, unless your brother is 30-year-old Buzzfeed staffer Jesse McLaren.

The New York-based AM to DM producer got creative when his sister enlisted his keen media eye for her engagement photo shoot, eventually sharing his finished work with his 600,000 followers on Twitter.

Sneaky: New York-based Buzzfeed staffer Jesse McLaren has gone viral after revealing how he hid Pennywise the clown from It into his sister’s engagement photos

The images posted don’t show the faces of Jesse’s sister or her husband-to-be, but do feature a particularly famous face poking around in the background.

‘My sister asked me to shoot her engagement pics so I hid Pennywise the clown in every photo. Countdown until she notices,’ Jesse wrote in the post.

Indeed, each one of the pics he shared from the shoot featured a subtle cameo from the terrifying character.

In one image, Bill Skarsgård’s version of the villain pokes out from behind a wooden post. In another, he peers out from below a branch. Tim Curry’s famous portrayal of the clown is even seen popping out of the ground menacingly in the distance.

The series of photos has been shared on the social media platform more than 38,000 times and gained over 125,000 likes.

Jesse’s followers loved the prank, applauding him for his work. Others, however, were more concerned with his sister’s fiance’s outfit.

‘Truly terrifying. Cargo shorts in engagement photos,’ wrote one user, while another added: ‘Her fiancé is wearing pants from the Gap. She deserves this.’

Soon enough, Jesse uploaded an update on the situation, revealing that his sister noticed the clown ‘immediately.’

He also shared a text he received from his sister after she found her engagement photo co-star, revealing that the sense of humor runs in the family.

‘On one hand, I really hope you get the help that you need. On the other… I totally want to use these,’ she wrote.

She also commented on the ‘cargo shorts controversy,’ responding: ‘I like a man with pockets.’

Jesse, who is known for his clever Photoshopping pranks, also revealed that his sister liked the photos so much that she used one for her save-the-date invitations.
