Police arrest 24-year-old suspected of attempted trespass

A man has been arrested for allegedly trespassing at Buckingham Palace, it was revealed tonight.

The 24-year-old was held three minutes after he stepped over a low outer perimeter fence adjacent to Buckingham Palace and attempted to climb a wall outside the Palace estate.

Police are not treating the incident as a terrorist act and the suspect was not carrying any weapons.

He was also arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance, but no police action will follow on that matter.

He was released after undergoing a mental health assessment.

But he is due to report to police early in the New Year after being investigated for trespass.
