Police officer falls off a hoverboard in Essex

  • The well-meaning community police officer was on patrol in Tendring, Essex
  • After stepping on the hoverboard he wobbled dramatically  for a brief moment
  • Suddently, the officer fell off the board as it shot away from under his feet

Engaging with the community is part and parcel of the job as a police officer.

But it went wrong for one constable in Tendring, Essex, after toppling off a child’s hoverboard.

The officer was filmed employing a nonchalant tactic of standing on the toy with his hands in his pockets.

This is the moment an Essex police officer attempted to ride on a hoverboard

Moments after the officer stood on the hoverboard he was soon going out of control

And after that, well it went downhill very quickly.

His colleagues have been quick to jump on his unprofessional technique and are now are demanding he brings in cakes to the office as a forfeit.

But maybe the most enduring part of the clip, which shows the officer trying out the white motorised board popular with kids that technically as an automatic stabiliser, shows a female resident of the unnamed street desperately trying to stop the officer falling over despite being half his size.

Inspector Darren Deex, community policing team inspector for Tendring, has praised his colleague’s endeavours to break down community barriers.

‘Love seeing our officers engaging with the community – it’s even better when you throw in a bit of technology,’ he wrote on Twitter before adding ‘Personally I think Kev went down too easily…’

Moments later the officer was flat on his back after falling from the hoverboard
