Powerball multi-millionaires who don’t even know they’re rich

The two lucky punters who won $50million each in Australia’s largest Powerball jackpot – and may not even know it yet – made two simple errors on their entries that mean officials cannot contact them.

One ticket purchased in Sydney had all eight winning numbers in the Division 1 draw 33, 3, 32, 13, 27, 35, 31, and the Powerball 3, however, they failed to register their ticket.

The other winner from Victoria purchased their ticket online but failed to provide their full contact details, so they cannot be reached.

Both winners need to come forward in order to claim their prize as officials have no way of contacting them.

Even as thousands of people rushed to check whether they had won the life-changing sum on Thursday evening, the lottery website crashed.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart encouraged everyone who purchased an entry to check their tickets as they could be Australia’s newest multi-millionaire.

‘Players can check their entry at any outlet, online at thelott.com or on the Lott app,’ he explained.

‘If you check your ticket and discover you are holding the winning ticket, we recommend you keep it safe and contact 131 868 to start the process of claiming your prize!’

Another 15 lucky people have won $122,000 each.

Thursday’s draw is the biggest jackpot offered in Powerball history as the prize rolled over for an eighth consecutive week.

Early on Thursday, The Lott spokesman Matt Hart told Daily Mail Australia that lottery outlets were expected to be busy.

‘We’re expecting it to be really busy at lottery outlets and online right up until the draw at 7.30pm on Thursday night,’ he said.

One in three Australian adults were expected to buy a ticket in Thursday night’s whopping $100 million draw.

The only other time a $100 million division one prize was up for grabs in Australia was for an Oz Lotto draw in 2012.

Earlier in the year, one lucky punter won $55million through Powerball, but left it to the very last week to claim his prize.

So, have you checked your ticket to see if you’ve won?
