Pregnant Pippa Middleton heads to the gym as Kate gives birth

It’s an exciting time for Pippa Middleton who has just become an aunt for the third time, as well as looking forward to the birth of her first child.

And the mother-to-be looked as if she had good news on her mind this morning as she headed to the gym in Chelsea as her sister Kate gave birth at The Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

It was announced this afternoon that the Duchess delivered an 8lbs 7oz baby boy just after 11am this morning with Prince William by her side.

Senior members of the royal family were said to be ‘delighted with the news’ and Pippa was no doubt feeling in great spirits as she anticipated the birth of her new niece or nephew this morning.

The fitness fanatic Pippa, 34, smiled as she strolled along to her workout session, dressed in a pale blue coat and casual white trousers, showing no hint of a baby bump despite being in her second trimester.

It emerged over the weekend that Pippa has had her 12-week scan last week and that she and her husband James Matthews are ‘overjoyed’ to be expecting their first child in October.

Yesterday it was revealed that the mother-to-be is taking bespoke diet and exercise classes from one of London’s top gyms to lead her successfully through her first pregnancy, it can be revealed.

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, whose pregnancy was announced today, is taking tuition from experts at the KX gym in Kensington, West London where experts encourage members to ‘prepare like an athlete’ for giving birth.

Pippa, 34, was spotted walking away from the £8,000-a-year KX gym last Thursday morning carrying a folder believed to be full of dietary and exercise advice, two days before new of her pregnancy broke.

KX – whose members also include Hugh Grant and Eddie Redmayne – offers a ‘Bespoke Package – Pregnancy Support Programme’, which includes nutrition, physical therapy and exercise for nine months as well as post-natal care.

Happy times! Pippa is looking forward to the birth of her first child

Happy times! As well as looking forward to the birth of her first child, Pippa today became an auntie for the third time as her sister Kate delivered a baby boy

The happy news is no doubt hugely welcome after a difficult few weeks for the family following allegations of rape against her father-in-law David Matthews. He strenuously denies them, calling the claims ‘untrue and scandalous’.

The 74-year-old allegedly carried out two offences between 1998 and 1999, one in Paris and another on the Caribbean island of St Barts.

The Duchess of Cambridge ‘could not have been more delighted’ when she heard the news of her sister’s pregnancy, it is reported.

Kate was reportedly the first person to be told after James Matthews.

What is the KX Pregnacy Programme?

The gym’s website described the programme as: ‘KX Pregnancy programme evolved out of our passion to support women and couples at every stage of pregnancy and has been an integral part of our holistic health and fitness history since our conception in 2002.

‘Developed by our in-house wellness experts with invaluable guidance from Professor Mark Johnson, our healthy lifestyle programme provides integrated nutrition, physical therapy and exercise approach with additional spa services and food delivery as optional extras. The programme can be used for each stage from pre-conception and pregnancy right through the journey to after your baby arrives for much needed post-natal care.

‘Professor Mark Johnson has provided invaluable guidance and support to help us develop our integrated programme which combines nutrition, food delivery, physical therapy, exercise and spa services.

‘Our couples take the pregnancy journey under the watchful eye of a dedicated programme manager and a team of expert practitioners in this field, who combine leading-edge nutrition and exercise science alongside our holistic approach.

‘Our aim is to build confidence by nurturing both mother and baby during and after pregnancy. Our complete pregnancy programme is open to KX members. Supporting nutrition and spa services are also available to non-members.

‘We recognise pregnancy, labour and post-natal recovery as being an amazing and transitional time in a woman’s life, which also runs parallel with some major physical and emotional challenges.

‘Like any physical challenge, it takes months of preparation for the big event and like an athlete, you too could benefit from a clear stage-by-stage, periodised holistic training regime.’

A friend apparently said the news had provided ‘much-needed happiness and light relief’ to the family.

The couple married in May last year. Pippa chose St Mark’s Church, Englefield, Berkshire, as the venue, seven miles from her family home.

She beamed with happiness as she displayed her figure in a fitted guipure lace gown by the British couturier Giles Deacon.

The couple hired a huge £100,000 glass marquee, shipped from Belgium and set up in the Middletons’ garden, to host their wedding breakfast and evening festivities. They drove in a green Jaguar E-Type from the Englefield Estate to the Middleton mansion.

Their courtship involved a decade of waiting, meticulous planning – and a dazzling campaign of gifts and treats that extended to her parents, too.

Thanks to the millions earned from Eden Rock Capital Management, the financial company named after his parents’ Caribbean hotel, James was in a position to woo Pippa in the most extraordinary style.

Even before they became an ‘item’, James had flown the whole Middleton clan to St Barts, and his parents’ hotel. He proposed atop a windswept mountain in the Lake District with a rock said to have set him back more than £200,000.

He was educated at Uppingham School in Rutland and won the British Formula Renault Championship in 1994 for Manor Motorsport.

James Matthews is the brother of former Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, who served as best man during last year’s wedding.

The couple went on a £120,000 honeymoon which took them to Australia and French Polynesia.

Pippa’s wedding was attended by actress and TV presenter Donna Air with her boyfriend, Pippa’s brother James, while tennis superstar Roger Federer topped the guestlist with his wife Mirka.
