Prince Philip was spotted taking the reins during his regular carriage ride in Windsor this morning.

The Duke of Edinburgh, 97, was seen enjoying some fresh air in Windsor Great Park, while accompanied by two female aides.

The royal wrapped up warm in a khaki coat and leather gloves, with a blanket over his legs to keep away the autumnal chill.

He also wore a khaki flat cap and gloves as he rode through the royal park in Berkshire.

Despite now being in his late 90s, Philip is still often spotted carriage riding while in Windsor.

The royal’s appearance today comes after he and the Queen celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on Tuesday.

The 92-year-old marked the special day by visiting the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors at its London headquarters.

Meanwhile, Philip has pared back his public appearances since retiring from official duties last year.

He was not present at the service at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, missing the ceremony for the first time in 20 years.

However, he was spotted leaving Buckingham Palace following Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations earlier this month.

Since his retirement, Philip has had more time to enjoy carriage-driving, which has been one of his favourite past-times since the 1970s.

He raced carriages near Norfolk before going on to represent Britain at several world and European championships.
