A prison escapee has allegedly been caught hiding under a pile of laundry in a Perth home hours after she went missing from a minimum-security facility.

Santana Marie Mason escaped from the prison in Bentley, south of the CBD, on Saturday morning.

The 27-year-old was arrested at a Cockburn home overnight hiding among clothes, WA Police say.

Ms Mason had been a person of interest and law enforcement were asking for help locating the 'unpredictable' woman

Ms Mason had been a person of interest and law enforcement were asking for help locating the ‘unpredictable’ woman.

She was discovered overnight on Saturday and charged with escaping from lawful custody and was refused bail to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Sunday.

A 35-year-old woman is accused of letting the fugitive hide at her house and lying to police to protect her.

The woman allegedly was approached at her home by police, but denied the Ms Mason was on her property.

After they searched the home, police found Ms Mason. Her charge relates to allegedly providing false information and not helping Ms Mason escape.    

She will face court on December 29.
