Paris Saint-Germain forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe trained on Tuesday afternoon ahead of their clash against Liverpool in the Champions League.

The pair picked up injuries while on international duty last week and missed PSG’s 1-0 victory over Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Neymar, who sustained a groin injury playing for Brazil against Cameroon, and Mbappe, who suffered a shoulder injury representing France against Uruguay, took part in the session at the Ooredoo Training Centre.

Brazil star Neymar was forced off after just eight minutes of his country’s 1-0 victory over Cameroon in Milton Keynes last Tuesday.

While 19-year-old Mbappe landed awkwardly during France’s 1-0 win over Uruguay in Paris on the same night.

A statement on the club’s official wesbite last Wednesday read: ‘Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe have undergone medical examinations today that confirmed: for Neymar an elongation of the right adductors. For Kylian Mbappe a contusion of the right shoulder.

‘A period of 48 hours of care will be observed to judge the clinical course.’

Thomas Tuchel provided an update on the pair in his pre-match press conference last Friday.

He said medical reports were encouraging, especially for Neymar, and that he hoped both will be fit by Wednesday.

Tuchel’s side were put through their paces as they prepared for the Group C encounter against the Premier League outfit at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.

PSG are currently one point behind the Reds in the group in third place with two matches remaining. 

The Ligue 1 side will face a shock elimination should they lose to Liverpool and Napoli beat Red Star Belgrade.
