Qantas flight from Sydney makes emergency landing

  • Emergency services met the aircraft on arrival in Phoenix at 5pm local time 
  • Qantas spokesman said the flight was diverted due to a medical emergency 
  • The flight then departed around 7pm local time for Dallas Fort Worth  

A Qantas flight from Sydney to Dallas made an emergency landing because a passenger needed medical attention.

Emergency services met the aircraft on arrival in Phoenix, Arizona, at 5pm local time on Thursday, a Qantas spokesman told Daily Mail Australia. 

‘Qantas flight QF7 travelling from Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth diverted to Phoenix due to a medical emergency,’ she said.

It is thought the passenger suffered a heart attack, Fox10 Phoenix reported. 

The flight then departed around 7pm local time, arriving at Dallas Fort Worth at 10pm local time.

The Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s official Twitter account posted pictures of the plane after the emergency landing.

‘PHX is here to help – hoping for a good outcome for the patient,’ the tweet added.
