Chilling footage of an entire campsite disappearing into a giant freak campsite at one of Australia’s most popular locations has been revealed.

Aired on Tuesday’s episode of Network Seven’s Towies, the frightening images showed Clayton’s Towing employee, Spoony, and his wife Mel come head to head with nature at Queensland’s Inskip Point.

Parts of the ground began falling away in the middle of the night and the couple were forced to battle to retrieve their caravan, car and camper trailer.

The chaotic clips show the ground at the iconic campsite sucking in entire vehicles and caravans while campers frantically try to save them.

‘It was, grab what you can and get out,’ Spoony recalled.

‘What I saw was just big walls of sand falling into the water, and it was just getting bigger and bigger.’

‘It was like a scene from a Hollywood movie the way I look back on it, you probably couldn’t set it up that well.’

‘We managed to just get out in the end, and literally when I got my van out in the end and my car, the whole sand gave way, so we were pretty lucky to get away.’

More than 140 campers were evacuated from the area that night, before a massive 150 metre wide crater was revealed in the morning.
