This is the shocking moment a pedestrian is nearly knocked over by a car running through a red light as she crosses the road.

Dashcam footage shows the silver car failing to stop at the pedestrian crossing several seconds after the lights had turned red.

The woman, in her 20s, had made it halfway across the road when she flinched and watched the Ford car miss her only narrowly.

The video was captured on a one-way road in Reading on February 12.

At the start of the clip the car with the dashcam pulls up to the pedestrian crossing on a three-lane road, just as the lights turn to red

The woman is seen pressing the button as she reaches the lights, and starts to cross as she sees the cars have been told to stop

But halfway across she sees the car come out of nowhere, and stops suddenly as it skips the red light and zips right past her.

The woman clutches both hands to her chest as she stops for a moment to recover, before checking the road is really clear and moving on.

A man on the opposite pavement had also begun to cross the road when the car flew over the crossing.

The car finally came to a stop a short distance past the lights, as pedestrians looked anxiously towards it.
