CR7’s biggest fan?

As a household name, it’s not surprising to see the sheer quantity of supporters who make lengthy trips just to see Cristiano Ronaldo in action.

One fan though, really did put the hours in to see the Portuguese superstar. One of Ronaldo’s fans from held up a sign in hope of attracting the forward’s attention.

‘I traveled 16 hours from China just to see CR7,’ the sign read.

Ronaldo, always looking to please his valued fans, didn’t disappoint either as he converted from the spot to drag Real back into the game before scoring the winner late on.

PSG cause havoc on the tracks

The citizens of Madrid will be no strangers to a busy train ride, but some commuters looking to make their way home before Wednesday’s game at the Bernabeu would have been shocked by what the travelling PSG support brought with them.

Filmed from the opposing platform, locals caught the football rave as the PSG supporters sang and bounced up and down, and chanting with excitement.

Should Real make it past their Ligue 1 opposition in Paris in a fortnight’s time, the Madrid locals may make their way home from work a little earlier.

Ronaldo’s penalty tormented by laser

Ronaldo’s penalty has brought forward all sorts of controversy, but while the validity of his spot kick that levelled the tie at 1-1 is being dissected, he was also battling an annoyance of his own.

As the Real star prepared for his penalty, his attention was caught by a green laser that was point at his face. The beam spread across most of his face as he looked into the stands for his prankster.

As expected, a laser was unlikely to faze Ronaldo, as he converted his controversial spot kick with ease.

Ref takes one for the team

The whole stadium felt that one. Referee Gianluca Rocchi was a bit too keen to keep up with the game and evidently got too close, the consequences were tough for him to take.

Rocchi looked to take up a central position, close to in-possession PSG star Neymar who looked to play a diagonal ball towards full back Dani Alves.

The ball, though, would not reach its final destination, as Neymar’s pass struck the referee on the side of the head. The Bernabeu winced and jeered as Rocchi bent over to hold his head.

And with the birds still circling and his ears still ringing, he waved for restart. Maybe he won’t get so close next time.

Real fan gives the finger

As Rabiot netted the opener and gained an all-important away goal for PSG at the Bernabeu, the Real supporters were unsurprisingly displeased with what they were seeing in the first half.

As the PSG players celebrated their lead, one fan let the camera know what he thought of that by extending his middle finger.

No hard feelings

Angel Di Maria endured a varied spell during his four seasons at the Bernabeu and has played for two different clubs since leaving in 2014.

But despite his short time in Madrid, he was clearly missed. Ahead of kick off, Brazilian Marcelo and Argentine Di Maria put their differences in nationality and club allegiances aside when they embraced in the tunnel.

Mbappe’s rabona fail

The stage was set for Kylian Mbappe to justify his snubbing of Real Madrid for PSG last summer, but it wasn’t to be on this occasion for the teenager.

Mbappe is expected to grow into – if he hasn’t already become one – one of the lethal strikers in Europe, but he also learnt a valuable lesson on Wednesday night. Don’t showboat at the Bernabeu.

PSG were still very much in the tie at this stage, after 70 minutes, and the former Monaco forward was leading a charge for PSG down their left flank. He quickly ran his way into trouble, and with few options close by, he looked to pull the ball back with a rabona. Let’s just say it didn’t go how he had hoped.

As he looked to fool Real captain Sergio Ramos, he cannot control his speed and so pulls the back, but as the ball stops, he doesn’t. Ramos picks the ball up and carries it – and the result – away from Mbappe’s clutches.
