A deadly red bellied black snake was caught hiding out in a Queensland bottle shop on Sunday.

Staff at the Fitzroy Hotel called the South Burnett Snake Catchers to the drive thru bottle shop to remove the slippery serpent.

The red bellied snake was found hiding away in an empty box sitting in the drive thru.

In a video shot by the snake catchers, the snake can be seen tucked inside the box before darting away from the handlers.

Shooting through the bottle shop, the snake is caught as it tries to make an escape.

The angry reptile can be seen thrashing in the catchers hands, clearly agitated at having its afternoon nap disturbed.

Staff can be heard in the background telling snake catcher Darryl they believe the snake was run over.

‘There’s blood on the ground but he might not have been,’ one staff member said.

‘We think he fell out of a car.’
