Richie Sambora breaks his silence about Heather Locklear

Richie Sambora chose to show support for his troubled ex-wife Heather Locklear by taking a fighter plane inscribed with her initials thousands of feet above the skies near her home.

The Bon Jovi guitarist took a flight above Malibu, California in an AT-6 Texan plane with the call letters ‘HL’ on the side.

And after experiencing a two-hour thrill ride of air acrobatics and barrel rolls, the rocker spoke for the first time to show support for Heather, 56, who is currently in a treatment facility following her arrest for allegedly attacking a police officer and a paramedic.

‘I will of course always be there for Heather and especially Ava. I am very proud of my daughter for her composure and strength during this difficult time.’

Richie and Heather married in 1994 and had daughter Ava in 1997. Their divorce was finalized in 2007.

DailyMail.com has also learned that Locklear will remain at a long-term care residence where some of the best doctors and psychiatrists can help her.

Her initial stay is scheduled till September when doctors will access her progress and make appropriate recommendations, according to a family insider.

Richie decided to show the ultimate support for his former wife of 13 years by taking a daredevil flight with a non profit organization he supports, The Condor Squadron Officer’s and Airmen’s Association, based out of Van Nuys, California.

Incredible video footage shows the rocker literally Livin’ on a Prayer as he flew above Malibu experiencing a hair raising adventure that would not look out of place in Top Gun.

Asked if he could handle the rollercoaster ride, Sambora replied: ‘After this intense and draining week, GO NUTS!’

Richie took a ride in a T-6 Texan, a trainer aircraft used to teach pilots from the US Air Force and the RAF.
