Rose McGowan in Hawaii after supporting Weinstein victims

Rose McGowan has been spotted taking a break in Hawaii after she cancelled her public appearances following the Harvey Weinstein sex assault scandal.

The actress, who has spoken out against the film producer since news of the allegations broke earlier this month, looked relaxed as she hit the beach in a black one-piece bathing suit and mirrored sunglasses.

Rose appeared to be taking enjoying her trip to the tropical paradise as she swam with friend and LA heiress Courtenay Semel in the crystal clear waters then showered off on the white sand beach.

Rose and Courtenay, a pal of the Kardashians and daughter of former CEO Yahoo Terry Semel, were pictured doing some stretches as they cooled off in the ocean.

The ex-wife of visual artist Davey Detail seemed to be in good spirits during her day by the shore as she took with her a white, blue and black floral print towel.

The actress, who has moved from LA to NYC in recent years to work on her career behind the camera, was escaping the autumn chill of Manhattan.

The vacation has likely been a much-needed break for Rose, who is best known for horror movie Scream and TV show Charmed, after she was named in a New York Times article which revealed that Weinstein had paid off sexual harassment accusers for decades.

It has been reported that the Jawbreaker actress has been canceling appearances this month due to the fallout from the Weinstein scandal.

But that hasn’t stopped the 44-year-old star taking to social media to stick up for dozens of women who have spoken out publicly against the movie mogul.

Those victims include Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and most recently, Lupita Nyong’o.

On Thursday it was claimed she dropped out of the Tallgrass Film Festival in Kansas just 24 hours before she was to be honored with the event’s Ad Astra Award.

The festival made the announcement on its site.

‘While we’re disappointed that Rose cannot be here with us in person, we understand that her well being is the priority.

‘We support her and our thoughts are with her. We’ll seize this opportunity to amplify her message and celebrate all the women filmmakers with works here at the 15th annual festival,’ Tallgrass Creative Director Lela Meadow-Conner said in a statement.

‘The whole world is now aware, in large part due to Rose’s efforts, about the rampant sexual harassment within the entertainment industry, and so in her honor, we have pulled together a panel of women filmmakers who will be attending the festival with their films, for a frank conversation, because the message doesn’t stop here.’

Last week McGowan blasted Weinstein for disputing Lupita’s scathing claims about Harvey’s behavior.

‘Watch out HW, if you come for one of us, you come for all of us. #ROSEARMY #LupitaNyongo,’ McGowan tweeted late Friday, hours after Weinstein’s rep said he has a ‘different recollection’ than Nyong’o.

‘Dear Monster, here come the girls,’ McGowan continued.

The actress, who broke through in the Weinstein-produced slasher Scream, reportedly sued Weinstein after an alleged assault in 1997 at the Sundance Film Festival.

Weinstein’s rep has said he denies ‘any claims of non-consensual sex’.

McGowan is believed to have signed a non-disclosure agreement at the close of the suit and has only referred to him obliquely in social media since.

Nyong’o, who won Best Supporting Actress for 2013’s 12 Years A Slave and has also been in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, penned a scathing op-ed for The New York Times on Thursday detailing her account of Weinstein’s questionable behavior.

The 34-year-old said she met the disgraced Hollywood mogul in 2011 at an awards ceremony in Berlin while she was in her final year at the Yale School Of Drama.

Nyong’o writes that he cajoled her into giving him a massage and later propositioned her, saying she had to be willing to do that sort of thing if she wanted to be an actress.

‘Mr. Weinstein has a different recollection of the events, but believes Lupita is a brilliant actress and a major force for the industry. Last year, she sent a personal invitation to Mr. Weinstein to see her in her Broadway show, “Eclipsed”,’ his rep said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly on Friday.

McGowan’s tweets hinted at some kind of retaliation, including one that simply said ‘Plotting’ posted with an image of her character from ‘The Black Dahlia’.

The war of words came as Weinstein completed the final day of a one-week outpatient sex rehab program on Saturday, and attempted to fend off claims that he hadn’t taken treatment seriously.

A psychologist taking part in his treatment told TMZ that Weinstein would remain in Arizona for a month or so after his week of outpatient ‘intensive therapy’ ends on Saturday.

Weinstein was ‘invested in the program’ and had focused on ‘dealing with his anger, his attitude toward others, boundary work and the beginnings of work on empathy,’ the psychologist told the outlet with Weinstein’s permission.

The psychologist downplayed previous reports that the 65-year-old film producer had fallen asleep in group sessions and ranted about conspiracy theories.

‘He showed up for all the meetings and was fully engaged,’ the mental health professional said, adding that Weinstein had been pulled from group therapy after an initial session due to confidentiality concerns, and the rest of his sessions had been one-on-one.

‘He was not venting about some conspiracy to get him. It was an appropriate display of anger,’ the psychologist said, dismissing previous reports that Weinstein had used group sessions to launch into sanctimonious rants about conspiracies against him.
