Rove McManus, 44, reveals why he’ll NEVER consider doing radio again

Rove McManus has no interest in returning to radio.

On Thursday, the 44-year-old revealed the reason he’s happy to stick with his new Channel 10 show Show Me The Movie for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to Yahoo Be about whether he’d ever return to 2Day FM – the network who dumped his show with Sam Frost – Rove replied: ‘Oh god, no.’

‘Oh god no’: Rove McManus, 44, reveals why he’ll NEVER consider doing breakfast radio again… as his 2Day FM replacement Em Rusciano continues to struggle in the ratings

Rove and Sam were dumped from breakfast radio after just one year, despite steadily improving the network’s figures to a 4.3 percent share.

His replacements, Em Rusciano, Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee struggled in the latest Sydney radio figures released just this week, also notching a 4.3 percent share.

The trio had been as high as 4.9 percent this year, but appear to be on the slide.

Regardless, Rove has no interest in joining the network – either to replacement one of the current breakfast hosts, or to appear in a different time slot.

‘Look Grant’s in there, who knows, it’s probably done well for him. He’s got a Gold Logie nomination out of it,’ he told Yahoo.

He then revealed the biggest reason for his lack of interest in a return: ‘I don’t miss getting up at four o’clock in the morning.’

Back in 2016, Southern Cross Austereo had high hopes Rove and Sam would claw back listeners lost when Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson jumped ship to KIIS FM.

The duo failed to meet expectations, although it should be noted their ratings figures have been comparable to Em, Grant and Ed’s.

In March, Rove told Stellar: ‘I’ve long since moved on,’ he replied bluntly, ‘At the time, I was still doing all my television stuff regardless.’

‘I don’t have a lot to say on that except, file it under “it was what it was”.
