Sally Obermeder prepares to celebrate Christmas

Last Christmas saw Sally Obermeder in a hotel room, awaiting the birth of her second daughter, via a US surrogate.

But fast forward a year, and the festive season looks remarkably different, as the 44-year-old reflects on the special bond between her two daughters, Annabelle, six, and Elyssa, one.

‘She adores Elyssa and in the morning she gets into her cot with her,’ the television presenter revealed in an interview with News Corp on Thursday.

‘Annabelle adores Elyssa’: Sally Obermeder, 44, opened up on the special bond between her two daughters, in Thursday’s The Daily Telegraph, as she prepares to celebrate Christmas with her brood

Sally welcomed her second daughter Elyssa into the world, with husband Marcus, last December, via a surrogate, after doctors were concerned that a pregnancy could be fatal.

‘Our surrogate, Rachel, is special, she’s just a special human being,’ the mother-of-two gushed, before adding: ‘Watching her give birth to Elyssa was so joyous.’

Sally received a breast cancer diagnosis the day before she was due to give birth to first daughter Annabelle, in October 2011.

The media personality faced an uphill battle as she underwent intense treatment to eliminate the cancer, including chemotherapy and a double mastectomy.

But as of September this year, Sally was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, revealing to Body & Soul that she’s reached the milestone of being five years cancer-free.

Speaking to the publication, the entrepreneur said she was ecstatic to receive the ‘all-clear’.

‘I feel like I’ve been holding my breath for five years and I can finally breathe properly again,’ she divulged.

‘There’s always a low-level anxiety you live with — will it come back? Is this going to be it? — especially before a scan.

‘I know the routine well but the inner dialogue and emotion is so full on, I was nervous going to that scan and when it came back clear… My gosh, the relief!’

Since getting her first all-clear scan back in 2012, Sally has experienced a new lease on life and admitted she’d been living every day like it was her last.
