Samuel Johnson pays emotional tribute to boy, 10, killed in accident

A young boy who was killed in a freak accident has saved the lives of three people, including two infants.

Riley Angus Moon, 10, died after a tragic scooter accident in Canberra on February 23.

Actor Samuel Johnson revealed the school boy was dropping his friend’s football back before the fatal accident.

‘No. Just no. Riley was 10,’ Mr Johnson shared his Love Your Sister Facebook page.

‘I am so sorry for Riley’s parents, his sister and brother, his family, friends, schoolmates and teachers.

‘You each have the entire village’s love and tears.’

The young child’s organs were donated and have saved the lives of a baby, toddler and an adult, Riley’s mother Joanna Prezzi told News Corp.

One of the infants saved was a toddler who Mr Johnson, the brother of late Connie Johnson, said has been in hospital for 12 months.

‘That toddler left hospital today with Riley’s strong, kind heart,’ he wrote.

‘His liver went to another toddler. That toddler went home today. His pancreas and kidney went to an adult. That adult also left hospital today.

‘We salute you little fella … go well young man.’

Riley’s funeral was held in Nicholls, north of Canberra, on Thursday.

A memorial service was held at the 10-year-old’s school, Palmerston Primary School, earlier this week.

The students used chalk to draw a colourful ‘R’ on the ground in Riley’s memory.

‘At his school Riley’s family joined the students to draw this beautiful ‘R’ and they asked students to bring a gold coin along for Love Your Sister,’ Mr Johnson wrote.

‘The worst 600 bucks we’ve ever had to receive.

‘Thank you to all for choosing to make the most out of the worst.’

Palmerston Primary School Principal Melissa Travers said Riley’s death had ‘devastated’ the community, news.com.au reported.

‘Riley was a much loved student who was taken too early by a tragic accident,’ Ms Travers said.

The school celebrated the 10-year-old’s life as they remembered his ‘infectious sense of humour, adventurous spirit and kind nature’.

‘We acknowledge what an amazing gift his family has given other young children and in that sense, Riley lives on,’ Ms Travers said.
