Schapelle Corby’s brother James Kisina unrecognisable

He’s the brother of one of Australia’s most notorious and recognisable criminals who was routinely pictured in newspapers as a fresh-faced teenager.

But after a decade out of the spotlight, the younger sibling has totally transformed his appearance and lifestyle after a few stints behind bars himself.

The boxing coach resurfaced on social media this week, attributing his athletic body to his vegan diet and rigid fitness routine, but can you guess who he is related to?

The heavily-tattooed hunk is in fact James Kisina, the troubled half-brother of convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby.

Kisina was just 17 years old when he hopped on a flight with Corby to Bali in 2004, a holiday that would transform the lives of the entire family.

He was the one carrying Corby’s bodyboard bag, which had more than four kilograms of marijuana concealed inside, in the moments before the drug bust.

When a customs officer approached him and asked him to open up the bag, Corby reportedly intervened and said it was hers.

Kisina was not implicated in the drug smuggling case and denied having any knowledge that the cannabis was hidden inside the bag.

He testified as a witness during Corby’s lengthy Denpasar District Court Trial.

While Corby served out her 20-year jail sentence, Kisina had his own brushes with the law back home in Australia.

In 2006, aged 18, Kisina was involved in a home invasion with two others armed with a baseball bat and machete.

He was given a four-year jail sentence, suspended after 10 months, for his role in the violent incident.

Five years later he was charged with burglary and assault after confronting the brothers of former rugby league star Ben Te’o in another violent home invasion.

The stunt landed him a 15-month jail sentence, which was suspended after three months.

In 2013, Kisina was caught with 0.8 grams of cocaine and fined $750.

Since then he has stayed out of the public eye, resurfacing in May this year holding a bottle of spirits outside Corby’s mother’s house in Loganlea, south of Brisbane, to celebrate her return from Bali.
