Serena Williams asks Reddit for advice on her hospital bag

The beauty of being engaged to the co-founder of the front page of the internet is, you will never be short on advice.

Pregnant Serena Williams turned to Reddit on Friday to ask for advice on packing for the hospital.

‘When did you pack your hospital bag?’ Serena, whose fiance is Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, asked the Mommit subreddit. ‘1 month before? 6 weeks? 8 weeks? I’m totally stalling. But I have a lot of time still…. I think…

‘When did you pack?’ Expectant Serena Williams turned to Reddit on Friday to ask for advice on packing for hospital.

‘Anything you didn’t expect to need that I’ll really appreciate having in there?’ she queried.

The tennis ace was flooded with advice, with the most popular suggestion appearing to be chapstick.

All the obvious toiletries were obviously listed ad infinitum, as well as sleep masks, ear plugs, stress balls, snacks, nipple butter, chargers, extension cords, granny undies, water bottle, hair ties, flip flops, bluetooth speakers, nursing pillow, a tower fan, and an extra blanket to get her pets used to the baby scent.

Most moms didn’t rate the hospitals’ heavy flow pads or towels, advising she bring her own.

One mom had a very apt suggestion – but not just because she was addressing the 39-time Grand Slam title holder.

‘Funny enough the one thing I’m SO glad we packed was a tennis ball,’ she revealed.

‘We learned in a birth class that it can relieve pain if your partner rubs it in circles on your lower back and when I was laboring it was the only thing that provided a little relief (until the epidural!!)’

Only one person advised her on what not to bring.

‘I swear, don’t listen to ppl who tell you to bring your own nightgowns, etc,’ one woman insisted. ‘That’s just more laundry for you and yours later! ‘

Many mothers also advised she bring some entertainment — and that is when fiance and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian jumped in.

‘Hello! Netflix will definitely be there via there iPad I got her,’ he assured.

There was ranging advice on when to pack also, from months in advance, to ‘after my waters broke.’

‘5 minutes before we went out the door,’ one poster exclaimed, while another agreed: ‘Same. LO came 3 weeks early. We were definitely not prepared.’

To which Alexis replied: ‘somehow I don’t think this will suffice for us but that is very reassuring.’
