SNL hilariously lampoons Fashion Police post TimesUp era

SNL makes a very good point — the next Fashion Police is going to be a muted affair.

On Saturday Night host Sam Rockwell took part in a hilarious sketch lampooning what the once biting E! show might be like in the post Times’ Up era.

Playing a host called Dean Swizz, and wearing a ‘Time’s Up’ badge, Rockwell thanked his ‘woman equal’ co-host Cecily Strong and declared: ‘On the count of three let’s say what we get paid.’

While Rockwell’s character shouted ‘$600,000’, Cecily’s character said ‘$40,000’.

‘Okay, that backfired,’ the actor admitted.

The show now named The Look — ‘E!’s red carpet rundown where we are now fashion positive’ — then introduced guest panelists Angelo Dolphintuna (played by Kenan Thompson) and Director of Our House women’s shelter Silvia Nunez (Melissa Villasenor)

Describing the charity Nunez began: ‘At our house, we provide women….’ until the obnoxious hosts interrupted: ‘Amazing! Someone should provide women.’

The panel then got to work assessing the Golden Globe looks, starting with Kate Hudson wearing Valentino.

‘How do we feel about this look,’ Strong asked.

‘I’m going to say she looks… empowered?’ Rockwell offered.

‘Yes she definitely looks as good as a man, if not better…. can I say that?’ Thompson ventured.

‘I don’t even see a dress — I see a CEO,’ Strong chimed in

But when Villasenor said: ‘I think she looks beautiful,’ the panel soured.

‘Really Sylvia? Let’s try not to judge people just based on their looks,’ she was admonished.

Next up was pregnant Eva Longoria,’ on whom Rockwell commented: ‘I hope that is a girl so she can change the world more! Oh wait I’m hearing its a boy. Well boo!’

Strong then explained that ‘before women were brave this next section was called “Puke Or Barf”, but now it’s called “I Respect Her Choice”.

Assessing Debra Messing’s look, Thompson adjudged  ‘Normally I would say “this H* look like she got dressed by friendly mice: barf.” But because of Twitter I’m going to say “I respect that b***h’s choice.”

The Golden Globe winning actor let the four-letter expletive slip in the middle of a sketch alongside SNL cast members Mikey Day and Cecily Strong.

The skit saw Rockwell playing a science teacher on a spoof PBS Kids show, who became increasingly frustrated when his two students failed to grasp the task at hand.

When Mikey Day’s character gave yet another wrong answer, Rockwell blasted: ‘You can’t be this f***ing stupid’ before quickly covering his mouth with his hand.

‘Sorry, kids aren’t stupid,’ he quickly apologized. ‘Just say what you see ok?’

Rockwell wasn’t alone in causing problems for NBC’s censorship team, as Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che deliberately used another profanity.

Kicking off the topical news segment with jokes about Donald Trump and his ‘s***hole countries’ comment, he said: ‘S-hole countries. That’s what NBC has asked us to say, even though the president got to say s***hole.’

Rockwell stepped up to host Saturday Night Live one week after receiving a Golden Globe for his supporting role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

In his opening SNL monologue, he said: ‘I’ve been a working actor for over 30 years and I’ve gotten to disappear into many great roles.

‘Just last week, the worst thing that could ever happen to a character actor happened to me. I won an award and I said ‘woah, am I a big a** honking movie star now? Did I just go from actor to big a** deal?’. I’m just as surprised as you are.

‘I was a character actor all my life and now I might actually just go full leading man. I might as well start right now.’

Rockwell then burst into song, singing Elvis Presley’s A Little Less Conversation and dancing down a red carpet that rolled out in front of him.

During the musical number, he fought off ninjas, battled the paparazzi, kissed Leslie Jones and kicked Colin Jost through a door before performing the splits with a top hat and cane.

Rockwell, who is now tipped for Oscar success with Three Billboards, also starred alongside Pete Davidson in a spoof rap video ode to Stanley Tucci.

The song, entitled Tucci Gang, was performed by Davidson as ‘Lil Pump’ and featured Rockwell dancing in a bald cap, dressed as Stanley Tucci.

The Peter Pan skit saw Hook panicking that having a boat full of young boys might land him in hot water further down the line.

‘Is this weird?’ he asked. ‘The fact that I’m encouraging all these young guys to hang out on my boat. Just from an optic stand point, is that going to look weird? In today’s climate, does this look really bad?’

‘I created him,’ he boasted. ‘Don’t forget that’s my dog head on my dead brother’s body.’

Saturday Night Live also featured surprise cameos from Fred Armisen, as Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff, and Bill Murray as Steve Bannon.

The pair appeared on SNL’s version of Morning Joe, hosted by Alex Moffat as Joe Scarborough and Kate McKinnon as Mika Brzezinski.

Armisen told the hosts: ‘Trump would ask to have two babies placed in his office, usually of different ethnicities.

‘Someone would put a bowl of goldfish crackers on the other side of the room and Trump would say ‘1000 bucks on the black one’.’

When asked about the alleged errors in his book, he said: ‘You read it right? You liked it? You had fun? Well, what’s the problem? You got the gist so shut up. Even the stuff that’s not true, it’s true.’

Murray, meanwhile, appeared as Bannon from under a grim reaper’s cloak and repeatedly referred to himself as the ‘Bannon cannon’.
