St Louis parents enjoy going on dates to IKEA

For most couples, a date night consists of a candlelit dinner or a trip to a cinema.

But one husband and wife have revealed that they like to go on romantic evening dates in a seemingly unlikely place: Ikea.

Amber Cox, 24, and her husband Steve, 25, from St Louis, Missouri, say they like to go on dates at the Swedish superstore when they can’t get a babysitter for their eight-month-old son Ezra.

Amber, Steve and their son Ezra recently had their family portraits taken at Ikea – because they have ‘so much fun while they’re there.’

Explaining the bizarre choice of location for their dates, Amber said: ‘It is important for us to do things together and as a family so when we can’t get a babysitter it is a great place for us all to go.

‘We went a couple of times when I was pregnant. We have taken our little boy there too and we enjoy going as a family. I just love it there.

‘It is important for us to make our home together and to make those kind of choices together.’

Describing the idea behind their family photo shoot, she said: ‘I had the idea for a while. I thought it would be really cool to do pictures there.

‘We thought about it before we had the baby but then it got pushed to the back of my mind.

‘We tried to just go about our normal shopping experience. We had a lot of pictures in my dream kitchen. We also get food there.’

The photographs of the couple, who have been married for three years, were taken by their photographer friend Tammi Camp.

‘She wanted something fun, unique and something that was fitting for their current lifestyle.

Describing the shoot as ‘perfect’, she added: ‘We even had some other shoppers stop and say how cool it was that we were doing a photo session there.’
