Steve Wynn smiles in New York as hundreds are interviewed in sex harassment probe

Steve Wynn and his wife were all smiles in New York City as it was revealed that 114 people have been interviewed in the casino magnate’s sex harassment probe.

Wynn, 76, and Andrea Hissom, 54, grinned for the cameras as they stepped out in Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon.

Wynn resigned as chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts after several women, including a manicurist and Vegas showgirl, accused him of harassment and assault.

Pat Mulroy, the chairwoman of the internal committee looking into the allegations, told shareholders that hundreds of people have been interviewed.

She said three million documents have also been reviewed as part of the investigation, which is expected to be finished later this year.

A dancer who worked for the show Showstoppers at the Wynn Las Vegas from 2014 to 2016 said female dancers were given special instructions when Wynn stopped by.

‘The female dancers were instructed immediately to strip down to bras and panties, put on heels, and apply extra makeup so as to be sexually appealing to Mr Wynn,’ according to attorney Lisa Bloom’s firm, which is representing the dancer.

‘Mr Wynn would then sit in the front row of the theater and leer while the female performers danced particularly physically revealing segments of the show.’

Wynn, who has since stepped down as CEO of his company, filed a defamation suit against Bloom in April.

The hotel mogul claims he has been ‘legally blind for almost two decades’, and says this is proof it was impossible for him to leer at his dancers.

Wynn has retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a genetic disorder in which the cells in the retina breakdown.

WHAT IS RETINIS PIGMENTOSA?

Wynn has retinitis pigmentosa (RP), a genetic disorder in which the cells in the retina break down.

Common symptoms include difficulty seeing at night and a loss of peripheral vision.

Those with RP experience night blindness and, as the disease progresses, many tend to develop tunnel vision.

‘They may have difficulty performing essential tasks of daily living such as reading, driving, walking without assistance, or recognizing faces and objects,’ according to the Institute.

People with RP will lose their vision slowly over time but will ‘usually not become totally blind’.

Wynn has been accused of sexual misconduct by a number of female employees at his Las Vegas casino, though he denies the allegations.

In a recent court filing, his ex-wife Elaine alleged that a $7.5million payout was made in 2005 to a manicurist he forced into having sex with him.

In January the Wall Street Journal spoke to 150 people who worked for Wynn, with a number describing in detail the lengths they would allegedly go to in order to avoid being alone with their boss.

Some scheduled fake appointments to make sure they would not be chosen to give Wynn spa treatments, while others went so far as to hide in bathrooms when he came into the salon.

The board of directors have since sought to show shareholders that they are working to strengthen the company’s corporate culture and move forward without its founder.

Shareholders who gathered in Las Vegas for the company’s annual meeting on Wednesday learned of the many corporate initiatives implemented since Wynn resigned.

The initiatives described to shareholders included a new community and culture department, a pay equity study, and a six-week paid parental leave policy.

The three new female members of the board, who were all appointed last month, were also formally introduced.

‘I think changing some of the board is a positive because it’s like you get old blood in there and it gets stale,’ Gary Imbs, a shareholder from Boise, Idaho, said.

‘So, you need some new blood in there. Is it better? Is it worse? I think it’s going to be better. People get complacent. They’re getting paid these high salaries, and they feel like they don’t have to do anything.’
