Stranger helps woman find her engagement ring on the Gold Coast

A woman who lost her engagement ring three days after being proposed to has been miraculously reunited with her diamond sparkler with the help of a stranger.

Tayla Daly’s boyfriend popped the question Sunday, but come Wednesday evening Ms Daly had misplaced the ring of her dreams somewhere on the Gold Coast.

The 25-year-old thought she must’ve lost it somewhere on her journey from work to her home in Tweed Heads, but had no luck finding it after retracing her steps.

‘I was bawling my eyes out and just tried to retrace my steps – I’d only just been to the petrol station,’ she told Nine News.

In a last ditch attempt, she appealed to Facebook for help, posting details of the journey she had taken and asking anyone who may have picked it up to get in touch.

But it was the actions of an incredibly kind stranger, with a strikingly similar story to tell about her own engagement ring, that led to her happy ending.

‘I felt really bad for her because six years ago I actually lost mine,’ Ms Austin said.

Jade Austin, from nearby Coomera, jumped in her car after reading the post and headed to the Caltex Ms Daly said she’d stopped in at on her way home.

The heavily pregnant Good Samaritan not only made the 30 minute journey to the Ferry Road business, but commenced her own investigation to find the ring.

She scoured security footage and perused the pavement, and eventually noticed something sparkly on the ground near the bowsers.

Ms Austin rushed home and messaged Ms Daly over Facebook with the exciting news.

Soon enough the relieved soon-to-be-bride was reunited with her prized piece of jewellery.

‘There was a lot of hugging, a lot of happiness, (I) think I’ve definitely found a friend for life,’ she said.
