CAKE KNIFE – TOTAL $20

According to Ms Johnson, for the ultimate Kmart wedding, there are countless small details you can focus on in order to make sure your nuptials are unique and beautiful.

‘When it comes time to cut your wedding cake you want a knife that befits the occasion,’ Ms Johnson wrote on her blog.

Enter Kmart’s 20 centimetre chef’s knife, which retails for $6.

First, Ms Johnson recommends you blunt the very sharp tip. Next, she recommends getting your hands on some rhinestones:

‘For this project we laid the stones in rows starting at the end of the handle and working towards the blade,’ she said.

Ms Johnson recommends using around 850 stones – or 25 rows to make the perfect glitzy cake knife.

TWINKLING LIGHTS – TOTAL $20 FOR ONE

For a decoration with a difference, Ms Johnson’s ingenious hack of combining $5 twinkle lights from Kmart with $15 candy jars is nothing short of beautiful.

All you need to do is artfully display and intertwine the fairy lights inside the candy jars.

‘If you’re worried about the Twinkle Lights using 3 x AA batteries, don’t stress!,’ Ms Johnson explained.

‘We bought Performer Super Heavy Duty Carbon Zinc Batteries from Kmart – 24 batteries for $5!! And just so you don’t have to worry that they will go flat during your reception… we tested them out for you’.

The finished result is an enchanted look many would spend thousands trying to replicate.

CARD BOX – TOTAL $16

Looking for somewhere to store your cards and envelopes presented at your reception?

Look no further than Kmart’s $12 photo box.

Ms Johnson demonstrates on her blog how you can turn the photo box into a souped-up card container, with the help of her trusty $14 rhinestones and a detailed hand.

‘We printed out the words we wanted to place across the front of the box and then shaded the reverse side of the page so we could transfer it onto the box,’ Ms Johnson outlined.

‘Once you’ve finished shading, tape the piece of paper into place on the box and start tracing over each letter with a firm amount of pressure. Take the tape off and remove the piece of paper and you’re left with your words clearly marked on your photo box.’

Finally, you simply glue on the rhinestones one by one to the lines of the letters – writing anything you want.

‘In total we used approximately 400 of our stones to do the work across the front of the box. These stones retail for $4 for approximately 500 stones,’ Ms Johnson said.

You can get your hands on them from the Kmart Styling shop here.

MENU – TOTAL $7.50

When you’re looking to make a menu with a difference, the first thing to come to your mind might not be a paper bag.

But according to Ms Johnson, perhaps you should be re-thinking your ideas.

‘This is a stunning way to present both your menu and your bread at your wedding tables! They are classy, eye-catching and incredibly easy to make,’ she explained.

‘We started with the Creativ White Paper Bags which come in a packet of 20 for $3.50. (That makes each individual bag about .18 cents each!).’

Next, print out your menu from your computer on A4 paper and glue it to each paper bag.

While you could leave the project here, Ms Johnson also said you can decorate it with $4 packets of rhinestones – and put bread inside the bag to double up as a side plate.
