Surprise new Crocodile Dundee film announced

Classic films including Ghostbusters, Dirty Dancing and Footloose have all been remade in recent years, with Hollywood studios keen to capitalise on current nostalgia for the 1980s.

And now, another hit film franchise from the defunct decade is set to be revived.

32 years after Crocodile Dundee hit cinemas, a fourth film in the franchise, titled Dundee: The Son of A Legend Returns Home, is set to hit cinemas this summer.

Franchise revival! Danny McBride is set to star in the new Crocodile Dundee film, The Son of A Legend Returns Home, due for release in the middle of the year

On Friday, a first look at the new film was unveiled, revealing comedian Danny McBride in the lead role.

Little is known about the project, which currently has no Wikipedia or IMDB page.

However, judging from the film’s title and the brief teaser trailer, it seems that the plot will revolve around Crocodile Dundee’s American-raised son, Mikey, returning to his father’s native Australian outback.

‘I’m not going to lie to you, to be a real Crocodile Dundee, I think 95% of it is the vest and then 5% is just being able to not fall down and stay on your feet,’ the actor joked.

In the trailer, he even gets to utter the original movie’s most iconic line: ‘That’s not a knife, this is a knife’, albeit in an American accent.
