Sydney couple uses car burnout for gender reveal party

The typical gender reveal celebration of cutting a cake or opening a box of balloons seems to be from a bygone era.

Now, many expecting couples are opting for a unique – and dangerous – way of unveiling the sex of their unborn babies.

One Sydney family took their gender reveal ceremony to a whole new level by using coloured smoke from a car burnout to declare they were having a baby boy.

The viral video – which was originally shared to Facebook by Sydney Event Escorts – a man and a woman along with 30 of their closed friends and family watched on as a red car did burnouts on a quiet suburban street.

As the car sits in the middle of the road, the driver keeps the car stationary as the wheels spin uncontrollably and blue smoke billows out of the exhaust pipe – revealing the couple will be having a son.

As the young couple finds out the sex of their unborn child, they can be seen embracing in pure elation while the rest of the crowd cheers on.

In a final nod to tradition, a bunch of blue balloons are let out into the air while the heavy smoke continues to swirl around the street.

But not everyone is happy with the growing trend of using burnouts for gender reveals.

Burnouts are illegal under the Australian Road Transport act, a NSW police spokesperson confirmed to FEMAIL.

‘Traffic Highway Patrol and police have confirmed they are investigating the incident,’ the spokesperson said.

The video was originally posted with a congratulatory message to the couple who were identified as ‘Bass and Shareen’.

A spokesperson for the business Sydney Events Escorts confirmed to The Daily Telegraph the company had nothing to do with the gender reveal.

It is not the first time an unlawful burnout has been used to disclose the sex of an unborn child.

In June a similar video was shared online of a black car skidding across an Australian street with a deluge of blue smoke flowing down the road, and in July the same method was used to reveal a blast of pink smoke for a couple expecting a baby girl.
