Sydney man run over by his own car caught on dash cam

The heart-stopping moment a driver forgets to put his handbrake on while stopped on a hill has been captured on dash cam.

A motorist named Sean was travelling along a steep double-line road in Malabar, south east of Sydney, when he came across a white vehicle stopped in the middle of the road.

In the dash cam footage, Sean can be heard saying: ‘You can’t just stop there!

‘What are you doing, mate?’

Sean then toots his horn and, shortly after, the door of the white car opens.

An elderly man can then be seen struggling to get out of the car, seemingly to confront Sean and his family.

But as the man sets foot onto the road his car begins rolling backwards down the hill.

The man tries to recover and put on the handbrake while the car is moving, but falls to the ground.

He rolls down the hill on his back, losing a shoe in the process.

A loud thud is heard when the white vehicle slams into Sean’s car.

‘Mate, put it in park, you’re still in reverse,’ Sean said, before the elderly man gets back in his car and drives out of the way.
