A mother who allegedly left her young daughter sitting alone in a car for close to an hour while she went shopping has been charged.
As much of Sydney sweltered through a balmy weekend, it’s alleged the woman, 39, left the 15-month-old girl unsupervised in the Hurstville Central car park on Sunday.
Other shoppers walking through the car park called police after noticing the toddler sitting unattended, with paramedics arriving to free the distressed youngster close to an hour after the woman had allegedly left her.

When the woman arrived back at her car she was arrested by police and taken back to St George Police Station.
She was charged with leaving a child in a vehicle and causing emotional distress and the Department of Family and Community Services were notified.
The woman was granted bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 24 October 2017.
It comes a day after a barber was forced to rescue a young boy who was allegedly left in a car by his father, who had gone to a pub across the road.
The 42-year-old had allegedly left the three-year-old locked inside the Holden Astra hatchback and walked into the Hume Hotel at Yagoona, in south-west Sydney.
As the temperature climbed above 35 degrees the distressed toddler’s cries were heard by barber Issa Khadem who rushed to free the boy.

Unsure if he could legally smash a window, Mr Khadem called Bankstown police who did the job of breaking glass, freeing the boy and treating him for dehydration.
‘He was crying, he had wet himself in the car, poor thing,’ the barber told Nine News on Sunday.
‘This is what happens in Yagoona when a bloke goes to the pub and leaves his kid in the car.’
Another patron at the pub allegedly punched the man on the footpath outside the premises, leaving him lying unconscious.
The father was reportedly supposed to have been caring for another son, aged two, at the same time. He was later found by police inside a nearby home.
