Sydney’s newest million-dollar post code where home buyers are racing to snap up property

A new housing estate has created the newest million-dollar post code for New South Wales with 10,000 new homes expected by 2025.

Just two years ago Box Hill, 42km North West of Sydney, was home to nothing more than farmland but in less than 100 days the new estate has began to boom.

The farmland has been transformed to make way for 10,000 new homes, 9 News reported.

A heavy investment into a new housing estate has created the newest million-dollar post code for New South Wales with 10,000 new homes expected by 2025

Property projects such as The Gables have played a large part in driving the new estate.

The Gables is a ‘master planned community’ with a $4 billion investment.

Real estate agent Tony Hourigan has been active in selling off plots of land and homes in the up-and-coming area.

Mr Hourigan said the area was very much running against current trends and was a perfect location for any type of buyer.

‘The north west sector is bucking the trend, the demand is quite good and suits a lot of people, families, investors and older couples,’ he told 9 News.

Development Manager for The Gables Jude Adikari said he was not surprised by the boom in Box Hill.

‘To date we have sold about 750 lots and we still have a fair way to go. It doesn’t come as a surprise to us because we investing an amount of capital into this development,’ he said.

Prices for a plot of land start at $400,000 while three completed homes recently sold for six figures.

Some Sydney residents have already made the move north west, hoping to escape the rat race and cost of living in Sydney’s centre.

One of those residents is Anthony McQuillan who recently moved his young family into the area and by all accounts is thrilled with the choice.

‘We moved out here because Sydney is a bit unaffordable. Better priced out here, the infrastructure is a lot better out here, it’s all new and it’s an up and coming area he said.

‘The Australian dream as they say.’

Once the new estate is fully completed it will boast a new school campus, diversity in housing types, new sporting fields, integrated recreation areas and a new and vibrant town centre.

Adding to the appeal of Box Hill will be the completion of the North West Rail Line which will allow residents of the area to reach the Sydney CBD within 30 minutes.

The new rail link is projected to be operational by 2019 and will service a sector of the region which has the highest concentration of cars per household.

The New South Wales Government also expects a further 200,000 people to move to the north west in the coming decades.
