Tamara Ecclestone ‘is hauled in by tax investigators’

The daughter of former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has reportedly been grilled by taxmen investigating her father’s £2.5billion empire.

Tamara Ecclestone, 33, was quizzed under caution by people looking into her father’s fortune at the London HQ of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

It comes after the socialite decorated her £70million home with huge Christmas trees and a life-sized sleigh in Kensington.

Her 87-year-old father, described as the ‘F1 Supremo’, has been involved in a long dispute with HMRC over his huge tax bill.

In 2008, the row was first settled with HMRC after he reportedly paid £10million of his £1billion tax bill in a ‘secret deal’.

But Mr Ecclestone, who is worth around £2.5billion, was later pursued for more money in 2015 in what was one of the biggest tax disputes in British history.

His daughter, who stars in ITV reality TV show Tamara’s World, is the first of his children to be questioned. There is no suggestion she has broken any tax laws.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Tamara was given a date to attend HMRC offices to be interviewed under caution about tax affairs.

‘This is the first time one of his daughters has been dragged in to be questioned.’

In 2012, Tamara – who is said to have been quizzed back in September – insisted she was not spoilt by her father and that she didn’t want to ‘rely on daddy’s money’.

She revealed it was ‘hard to trust people when you’re rich’ and that she is wary of most people.

She said: ‘I wasn’t given every toy I wanted. I had to earn my pocket money by doing chores. I don’t want to rely on daddy’s money.

‘He helps me with things like houses, but those are investments. I have my own bank account which I use for earnings from TV and modelling work.

‘Spending your own money feels different. It’s a good feeling. It’s hard to trust people when you’re rich, though. I’m wary of most people. I trust my mum, dad and my sister, but can count the number of true friends on the fingers of one hand.’

Tamara, her sister Petra, 28, and mother Slavica, 59, are all said to be beneficiaries of a huge family trust.

On Wednesday, a giant Christmas tree covered in red and green baubles, could be seen outside her home.

Two statue reindeer were positioned on each side of the driveway, dressed in Santa costumes, while a stunning red and white wreath was placed on the front door

The heiress is known for her elaborate decorations – having decked her house out with pumpkins, bats, cobwebs and skeletons for Halloween.

HMRC declined to comment when approached by MailOnline.
