Home organisation hacks:

Decluttering: A functional and streamlined space is something many aspire to. In fact, the trend towards this is proving so popular, Pinterest reports a 60 per cent increase in saves.

Although there’s an embrace of minimalism, decluttering focuses more on making the home one that’s free of excess stuff – think books, clothing, papers or anything else that makes a home feel less organised.

Hack: Decluttering is easier if you sort your possessions into piles: keep, charity, and throw away.

The home office: This is one place that can be difficult to keep clean and clear – especially as it can be tempting to use it as a dumping ground for all manner of things.

Streamline systems using folders for filing, and invest in some pretty stationery to personalise your space. A pin board with hooks can help keeps things organised in a craft space.

Hack: Unsightly computer cords can be kept neat and orderly using a bulldog clip attached to a desk edge to keep them detangled.

Fashion-based hacks:

Customising a pair of jeans: With a 100 per cent increase in saves, it would seem more are looking for creative ways to get extra mileage from their clothing.

Hack: Frayed jeans hems are currently doing the rounds right now and there’s a simple way to get the look. First cut jeans to the length you would like (tip: make this a centimetre longer to allow for fraying), next ‘rough’ the edges with light sandpaper to get fraying started.

The same process can be applied jeans to create a ‘distressed look’ – use a razor blade instead of scissors to create ‘rips’ and sand paper to create texture.

Removing stains from clothes: It can be really frustrating, not to mention expensive when you spill something on a favourite garment.

Hack: It’s possible to get rid of stains easily using common household ingredients. Make sure you’ve always got vinegar, baby wipes and baking soda to hand and you will be able to get rid of many clothing stains easily and without too much effort.
